Really though, as soon as he hears the voices, he's pretty much immediately making his way as quietly and quickly over in that direction as possible. He knows it's dangerous to move about the compound like this and more dangerous still to eavesdrop. It shows in his hesitation. Still - if the voices are coming from behind a door, he'll crouch outside of it with his ear to the screen. If they're actually in the hall, he'll stop shy and listen from around the corner. After that, he holds his breath subconsciously, straining his hearing.
...Ah. So they are fussing over the messenger, though it's not exactly what Kaoru had expected to hear. He's not exactly sure what they mean by that, since nothing about her seems fishy to him, but "would she really come in person"...
It couldn't possibly be what he thinks most immediately, so he shakes his head and sorely regrets it since his hair ornaments chime gently in the process. It's enough to have him freezing up, easing backwards slowly in the hopes that they're too wrapped up in their conversation to notice. He'll have to get back to Sen either way, though; hearing something like that is definitely an ill omen. Turning on his heel, he'll attempt to quickly make his way back down the hall.
"Kimigiku", in the meanwhile, will be able to hear the servant getting up from his post and slowly make his way from the room. Either he's the rudest shit ever who doesn't care about the family guests being mauled by bears, or he's the rudest shit ever who doesn't care about the family guests being kidnapped by the family...]
